In comparison with conventional lamps such as Halogen Lamp and High Intensity Discharge,LED has the unusual strengths with long lifetime, high eficiency, fast response, small size, high plasticity and so on.In the last few years, LED applied for auto headlamps in gradually and especially for luxury autos.However, the compare between LED lamps and conventional lamps, LED also has the unusual problem to consider. The photochromic performance is an important part of them.Due to the spccial characteristics of luminesence and temperture influence, LED auto lamp casiliy to appear the spactial color nonuniformity and color drif. These apperances not only bring the satety problem ,but also influence the auto apperance.
This paper will major introduce the spatial color distribution of LED characterstics, and analyze the reasons of poor photochromic performance. The color specification requirements of LED auto lamps will be introduced in relatived standards and discuss the measurement methods of LED color performance.
